At St Michael's, we provide a safe, inviting and nurturing place for our students to learn, achieve and be the best they can be. Our school is committed to giving your child the best opportunity to develop academically, spiritually and socially in a safe and supportive environment. We believe that education happens in the classroom, on the stage, on the sporting field and in the playground.
We offer a vibrant Catholic environment where faith is nurtured through a thorough Religious Education curriculum and a rich liturgical life, including Mass, assemblies, and liturgical celebrations. Students participate in our Sacramental program and develop a strong understanding of their faith through social outreach and prayer.
Underlying our school's commitment to authentic learning is our emphasis on developing the skills and competencies of critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and communication. Students set learning goals, co-construct learning intentions and success criteria, and engage in higher order thinking tasks and choice-based learning.
At St Michael's, we're dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. We achieve this through differentiated instruction, exciting extracurricular opportunities, and flexible grouping that fosters both collaboration and individual learning. Our unique reporting system provides comprehensive feedback on each student's progress, while a strong STEM focus across K-6 ignites curiosity and builds essential skills.
We're passionate about helping every student reach their full potential. Our teachers cater to different learning styles in a flexible environment, complemented by exciting co-curricular activities. Students can explore their passions through diocesan sports, the Christmas Art Competition, and events like the University of Newcastle Science and Engineering Day. Our unique reporting system provides comprehensive feedback, and a strong STEM focus across K-6 ignites curiosity and builds 21st century skills.
We foster positive and trusting relationships with our students, families, Corpus Christi Mittagong/Bowral parish, and the wider community. We encourage a high level of parent engagement in our students' educational experience and welcome parents' participation and involvement in school initiatives.
Students at St Michael's engage in a variety of social justice initiatives throughout the school year, including fundraising for Sr Anna Warlow's Indigenous Outreach Program; Project Compassion; Caritas Australia; Catholic Mission and the St Vincent de Paul Society. We also identify current areas of need for our community to support appeals linked to community issues such as drought, flood and bushfire appeals.
Our students play an active role in caring for our common home. Pope Francis' Laudato' Si calls upon us to care for our environment, which we do through our environmental initiatives such as organic waste management, worm farming, eco-friendly resources and student-managed vegetable and flower gardens.
