There are many opportunities for your child to become involved in extra curricular activities at St Michael’s. All students are encouraged to participate in extra curricular programs on offer. These programs develop students’ confidence, talents and sense of responsibility.
They include:
St Michael’s provides a diversity of sporting opportunities both at a school and representative level.
School Sport All classes have dedicated sport lessons each week. These lessons involve the teaching of skills in a variety of sports and improving students’ fitness levels. The teaching of sport is part of the school’s PD/H/PE curriculum.
Representative Sport All students in Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in diocesan or community gala days in AFL, Rugby League, Soccer, Netball and Basketball
The school conducts two major annual sport carnivals, Cross Country and Athletics. We also conduct swimming trials for the selection of a swimming team. These events act as trials for school teams to participate in regional and diocesan carnivals. From here, successful students can trial for selection in MacKillop (NSW Catholic Schools) teams, which can lead to State (PSSA), and ultimately, National teams.
Students from Year 5 and Year 6 who are talented in a variety of team and individual sports (basketball, netball, soccer, hockey, rugby union, rugby league; softball, touch football, AFL, tennis, cricket) can also trial for selection in Wollongong and Mackillop teams and follow the same selection path as above.
